When you’re spraying your armpits with deodorant of a morning, before you head to the beach, you probably aren’t thinking that it could pollute our oceans and damage sea life, when you ride those waves in an hour’s time.
However, many of us are becoming more responsible for taking care of our Earth, and there are a number of products out there which we can make a switch to, to help keep our planet alive and beautiful. If what you use now isn’t good for the environment, below is a list of some of my essentials which I love to use, that aren’t harmful to our environment.
1. Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Organic Hand Sanitizer:
You will find a bottle of this in every bag I own (gym bag, baby bag, beach bag and handbag), plus a couple in my car. I could have a slight obsession with the delicious lavender smell but since having my kids I have become a bit of a germ phobic! This is, hands down, (pardon the pun) the best hand sanitizer around. It is gentle on the skin, smells ahhhhhmazing and is great for the whole family. AND this brand, Dr Bronner’s, has a great ethos towards the Earth, creating environmentally friendly products.
2. Solar D Sunscreen:
Again, every bag I own holds a bottle of Solar D Sunscreen. Perfect for the whole family, it is gentle on sensitive skin, and doesn’t compromise your vitamin D intake. Broad Spectrum with SPF 50, Solar D is also reef safe, contains no nasties and is not tested on animals. And… it is the most luxurious, silky smooth sunscreen I have ever used. Many countries are now banning sunscreens that aren’t reef safe, so make the switch if you haven’t already.
3. John Frieda Beach Spray for Hair:
Weather you are blessed or cursed with frizz and curls (Most of my life I have chosen to be blessed, and have embraced the unruly waves), this hair product is amazing. It enhances the salty wave look, smells like coconut and doesn’t leave a crunchy sticky feeling. And…. it’s reef safe! Perfect for the beach!
4. Sukin Deodorant:
Saying “No!” to ingredients and processes that cause harm to ourselves and the environment, is Sukin’s motto. Made from natural ingredients free of parabens and chemicals, this deodorant is also cruelty free and won’t harm our oceans. Sukin has a massive range of other beauty products which are free of nasties.
